Who We Are
Big Big Table Community Café uses an innovative participation-based model providing everyone access to healthy food in a community setting where people can be nourished with dignity while contributing what they can—time, money, or produce—to the operation of the café. Our mission is to provide a dignified response to hunger in our community, providing Buffalo with accessible and affordable nutritious meals, regardless of how the diner chooses to contribute.
Big Big Table (BBT) brings a sustainable social enterprise model to WNY, building community by addressing a common experience: hunger. We are a pay-as-you-can lunchtime restaurant, committed to feeding people, reducing food waste, and bringing people together in the process. Our motto is: “Everybody eats. Everybody gives. Everybody matters.”
What We Do
The number one goal of Big Big Table is to feed everyone who walks through the door.
Our team works together to cultivate a welcoming, inclusive dining experience, and a 'culture of contribution' where everyone is encouraged to give/participate in ways that are meaningful to them. With pay-as-you-can pricing and a significant volunteer component in day-to-day operations, everyone is given a chance to earn what they need by giving what they can.
There are three ways for Big Big Table guests to participate for a meal:
- Pay-What-You-Can: There are suggested but no set prices for a meal
- Donate Your Time: Take on a full shift or half an hour
- Donate Ingredients: We accept fresh produce, canned or dry goods that are in date
Big Big Table is focused on addressing hunger, reducing food waste, and building community. Come join us at the Table!
